In 1970, parents of 2 moved from the East Coast to Del Mar, CA.
Their close friend, Pete Digirolamo was the architect, adding a second story primary bedroom, as well as a wood-burning fireplace in a sunken living room which became the gathering place for family holidays and conversation. The house had a mid-century feel, with large windows and a connection to the backyard, with 1970s materials and building techniques.
Many years later, The youngest child and her husband had an opportunity to purchase the home. While the house had been perfect for a family with growing children, the couple were looking to modernize the 70's house and update it for today's entertaining as well as make the house more energy efficient, all while still keeping the soul of the house- the wood burning fireplace and the sunken living room and a strong connection to the outdoors.
