With Lore, we wanted the exterior and interior of the building to be a product of its place and time. The goal was to improve the site, while also preserving it. Intent on supporting the context and narrative the space already tells, Smith generated a signature appeal across the visual, auditory, and olfactory. We took cues from Olivia’s vision of warmth and timelessness, capturing a singular experience that couldn’t be found in any other jewelry showroom in San Diego. Lore houses custom millwork, casework, upholstery, and lighting throughout the working studio and showroom. The selection of materials and finishes serve to echo the physicality and elegance of Sugarman’s work.
